Biden's VP Update

We can learn quite a bit about from a presumptive nominees running mate pick. Joe Biden, himself a former VP, has a several options running the gamut from safe (Kamala Harris) to interesting/nichy (Elizabeth Warren) to downright off-the-radar (Susan Rice). The polls currently call for a flight to safety as Biden enjoys solid numbers nationally and in swing states. This pick could tell us whether his campaign believes those numbers are strong or liable to whither under the glaring heat of teh race.

Writing this comment three years later from the original post gives insight and poses several questions. As a vice president, hundreds of Americans praised Joe Biden's decisions and the position he held on several subjects. Now that he is in office, there are countless individuals who voted for President Biden and though were pleased during the beginning of his term, are now shocked at his statements and actions. I think it is very interesting to go back and look at Biden's choices regarding his VP. Now that he has chosen Harris and is being names president elect, I believe he made the right decision. I feel that with the diversity, understanding, empathy, and wisdom that will occupy the white house, we can slowly but surely get back on track as a nation.

I think that Biden selected Harris as his VP to appeal to the vast majority of the black community. This will help him win swing states, as he already will get the democratic votes from California. This move will help tremendously in trying to win his campaign.

I think that Biden's choice to add Harris to his campaign, was not to gain the state she is apart of. She is the California Senator and California is a democratic state. His choice to pick her, was probably to appeal to a larger population and win more swing states.

I agree that Kamala Harris was a safe choice. Most nominees pick a running mate that could potentially gain them another state. Harris is the California senator, and California is a democratic state they did not have to worry about winning. She may help with Biden by getting a few swing states, but we will just have to wait and see how it all pans out.
