Georgia on My Mind

Georgia just became the first state to ease shelter in place mandates as Governor Brian Kemp (R) indicated the Peach State is on track to meet Phase I requirements outlined by the White House.

Kemp's guidelines included several interesting businesses eligible to re-open such as hair salons, barbers restaurants, gyms, and theaters. The latter two seem especially interesting as workout centers or weight rooms strike me as the worst venue given sweating and hygiene concerns while theaters have no movies to screen.

The decision drew expected criticism given Kemp's recent reveal that he was not aware asymptomatic carriers can spread the virus. Plus several Georgia hot spots are developing. Granted, the plan includes restrictions. The entire country will monitor what happens.

Slowly opening businesses I believe is the best way to go about reentering normalcy in society, but, like what has been stated by many others, there has to be wise choices made as well. I know all businesses, especially small businesses are struggling to stay afloat because of the virus shutting everything down, but to reduce ways of the virus erupting again is to be wise, maybe stay away from entertainment establishments for awhile like movie theaters, trampoline parks, the gym, etc. Stick to more essential businesses until the virus is more under control.

seeing my states open up with eager and getting the ball rolling is surprisingly especially with Georgia being not that far from states such as new where it's getting pretty bad up there, it's better to be safe than sorry and having to fix the damages towards peoples health.

I do agree with so many comments on Georgians hasty move to open up movie theaters, gyms and other risky facilities. This pandemic by no means is over and done with, we are still very vulnerable to the virus and to create a major local crisis. Many of our supermarkets and restaurant should continue with delivery and curbside pick-ups. It is very safe and it is very effective in controlling the spread. I also think beauty salons can open but only by appointments in order to control and maintain social distancing. I am pro-opening our states but with an efficient plan to control and protect its citizens. There must be multiple sites in cities to test COV-19 free of charge…

I'm no expert, but I feel like opening up gyms is a risky move, since EVERYONE is touching literally EVERYTHING all the time. I do think easing up on quarantine and social distancing rules this fast is a little risky.
