New York Governor Andrew Cuomo became synonymous for actively and aggressively responding to COVID-19. The Empire State became the epicenter of the crisis with early cases and massive hospitalizations. New York leads the nation with 188,000 cases statewide with over 9,300 deaths.
hat said, the economic impact is real and Cuomo is compelled to respond and adapt. He is in fact developing a plan to "re-open" businesses and public places.
I don't know the culture of American, but I still think the open business might not a good idea. I also don't understand why people really care bout freedom even over their life. Just watch China, we have stoped 2 mouths break, but now it really safe in china because of reasonable sacrifice.
I'm glad that corona is loosening its grip on New York because they suffered so much from it--and it's exciting that they're thinking about opening, regardless of how long it takes to do so
This seems crazy and so far away from where I am (Dallas) but I have to remember New York got hit very hard and was one of the first places in the united states to have a huge outbreak . I hope they are taking the right precautions before doing this which I’m sure they are. Hopefully this all ends soon and they are doing the right thing to make it go faster but keep people safe in at the same time !
It is weird to see how everything has changed in such a short amount of time. I am not too sure what NY should do at this moment. On one hand, people rely on working. But at the same time it would be terrible if a second wave were to hit again, especially given that NY is very confined compared to states like Texas.
I believe that NYC should be the last ones to reopen. NYC is a hot spot and if it reopens too early, we could see a relapse. I know many are wanting their states to reopen; however, we must be careful. By reopening too soon, we will have to do a quarantine round 2 and I know nobody wants that.
